Payday loans in Louisville, KY
Cumberland Finance is a free online request service, not a lender. This page helps you choose between an online request, a talk with your biller or bill assistance in Louisville, and shows what $500 costs under Kentucky law.

Your online request and the lender's decision
The first choice is whether you need a loan at all. Sending a request to us takes a few minutes from your phone and does not commit you to anything.
Two things stay separate. We take your request and pass it along. A lender then decides whether to offer you anything, in what amount and at what price. Sending a request does not mean you will be approved. Cumberland Finance is not a lender and does not make credit decisions. If a lender makes you an offer, the amount, fee, APR and repayment terms come from that lender and appear in the loan agreement before you sign.
Three routes, three jobs
Online request: you send details once from home, and funding follows the lender's review, its cutoff and your bank.
Your biller: a landlord, utility or medical office may agree to a later date or a plan at no charge.
Assistance: if the bill is rent or utilities, an agency may pay it without a loan.
From request to money in your account
Hours and cutoffs belong to the lender, so check them in your offer. This table covers what you do and what others control.
| Step | Who controls it | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Send the request | You | A few minutes at home; add proof of income only if a lender asks |
| Review | Each lender that sees it | Business-hours review; any lender can say no |
| Read and sign the offer | You | Kentucky limits apply: $600 total, fee up to $15 per $100 of the check |
| Funding | The lender | Commonly the next business day after signing, not promised |
| Deposit posts | Your bank | Posting times vary, and a request after a lender's daily cutoff waits |
What a $500 Kentucky payday transaction may cost
Use the calculator with your own amount. The state's limit is built on the check's face amount, so read the figures from the check down, not from your cash up.

- Database fee, if charged

- Annualized cost (APR illustration)
Upper-limit illustration under KRS 286.9-100: the fee is capped at 15% of the check, rounded down to the cent. A lender may charge less. Your actual fee, any database fee and the APR are in the lender's disclosure, which you see before you sign.
Check the full repayment date
For $500 in cash the check is $500 ÷ 0.85 = $588.23. The fee is at most $88.23. With a $3 database fee you hand over $591.23 on the due date, and the whole amount comes out at once.
The fee covers at least 14 days. On a 14-day loan it works out to about 460% a year, on a 30-day loan about 215%. A lender may charge less than the maximum, and the exact numbers are in the disclosure you see before signing.
Kentucky also limits you to two open payday loans and $600 in total cash. If you still owe $200 elsewhere, the most a new lender can advance is $400.
See the Kentucky payday loan overview for the complete rule table and rates and terms for the method.
Will repayment leave enough for your bills?

Before you take on a new debt in Louisville
A short order of operations. The first steps cost nothing and can remove the need for a loan.
| Step | What to do | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Check the lender | Look up its Kentucky license with the Department of Financial Institutions and read the name on the agreement. | A trade name and the license holder's legal name can differ. |
| 2. Try the city route | Contact a Neighborhood Place site about rent or utility help. | An agency payment adds no fee or interest. |
| 3. Call your biller | Ask your landlord, utility or medical office for a later date or a payment plan. | Some will agree to a later date or a plan at no charge. |
| 4. Gather documents | ID, proof of income, bank details, and the bill or notice you are paying. | Agencies and lenders both ask, and missing papers cost days. |
| 5. Know the timeline | Ask the lender about its cutoff, then allow time for your bank to post the deposit. | Approval, signing and funding are three separate events. |
| 6. Match payment to payday | Run the budget check above with your real bills. | A payment you cannot cover pushes you toward a second loan. |

We serve Louisville and all of Jefferson County online. There is no office to visit: you send the request from your phone or computer, and a lender that approves you deposits the money to your bank account.
Keep Kentucky and Indiana products separate
Louisville sits on the Indiana line, and searches for "payday loans near me" can turn up Indiana lenders. A Kentucky resident asking a Kentucky lender gets Kentucky's rules. Do not substitute another state's limits when you estimate a cost.
The calculator on this page uses only Kentucky's formula. An Indiana quote may have a different amount cap, fee structure or term, so compare it only once you know which law it follows. Questions about a specific lender go to Kentucky DFI at 800-223-2579.

Louisville questions
Is there a Cumberland Finance location in Louisville?
No. Cumberland Finance has no branch, counter or phone line in Louisville or anywhere else in Jefferson County. We work online only.
Can I send a request with bad credit?
Yes, you can send one, but we cannot tell you how a lender will react. Each lender sets its own rules on income, bank history and credit checks, and any of them may say no. See what lenders look at beyond your score.
I am sending the request at night. Does that mean I get money at night?
No. The form takes requests at any hour, but lenders review and fund them during business hours. A request you send after a lender's daily cutoff is usually handled the next business day, and your bank still has to post the deposit.
Where can people in Jefferson County ask about rent or utility help?
Start with Louisville Metro's Neighborhood Place network, the city's route to housing stabilization and energy assistance. The city's emergency-assistance page lists who qualifies, including that it looks at earned-income history. Programs run on limited funds.
Is the maximum fee $15 for every $100 I receive?
No. The $15 per $100 limit applies to the face amount of your check. For $500 in cash the check is $588.23 and the fee at most $88.23, which is about 17.6% of the cash, not 15%.
Ready to send a request from Louisville?
No cost to send, no urgency. If a lender makes an offer, read the total repayment and due date first.
