Frequently asked questions

Who is Cumberland Finance?

An online loan request service for Kentucky. Cumberland Finance is not a lender and does not make credit decisions. If a lender makes you an offer, the amount, fee, APR and repayment terms come from that lender and appear in the loan agreement before you sign.

Does it cost anything to send a request?

No. We never charge you, and a legitimate lender will never ask for a fee before giving you a loan.

Who can send a request?

Kentucky residents who are at least 18, have a checking account in their name and a regular income.

How much can I borrow?

Payday loans in Kentucky go up to $600 in total. Installment loans in our network run from about $500 to $5,000, and personal loans up to $10,000.

Can I get a loan if I receive Social Security or disability?

Many lenders accept benefits as income as long as they are deposited to your checking account regularly.

Can I have two payday loans at once?

Kentucky allows up to two open payday loans, as long as the total cash you received is $600 or less. Lenders check this in a state database.

Can I roll over a payday loan?

Kentucky doesn't allow lenders to charge a fee to renew or roll over a payday loan. Once it's repaid, you can take a new one if you qualify.

Can I go to jail for not paying a payday loan?

No. Kentucky law says you cannot be prosecuted or convicted for a cold check over a payday loan, and a lender may not threaten you with it. The lender can still pursue the debt through collections or a civil lawsuit.

How do I repay?

Your lender debits the payment from your checking account on the due date in your agreement. If you need to change a date, call your lender before it.

Is my information safe?

Our forms are encrypted in transit, and we share your request only with lenders and partners who need it to review it. Read our privacy policy.

Are you the old Cumberland Financial in Lexington?

No. That company used this domain until 2024. We are not related to it. Read the history.
