The history of the Cumberland Finance name
Several unrelated businesses have used this domain since 1998. The best known was Cumberland Financial Services, Inc., a Lexington consumer finance company. Here is what the public record shows, and how it relates to us.
Please note: today's Cumberland Finance is not Cumberland Financial Services, Inc., and is not its successor. We registered the domain on October 12, 2026, after it had been parked for some time. We have no access to that company's customer accounts or records. If you had a loan with Cumberland Financial Services, contact the company or the Kentucky Department of Financial Institutions, not us.
Cumberland Financial Services, Inc. (Lexington)
Cumberland Financial Services, Inc. was a privately owned consumer finance company in Lexington. Its website said it was established in 1997. It appears under consumer loan company license No. 1520 in the Kentucky Department of Financial Institutions annual reports for 1999 and 2000, at an address on Patchen Drive.
The company's last office was at 153 Patchen Drive, Suite 53, in the Patchen Village shopping center on the east side of Lexington. The landlord's site plans from 2020 and 2021 still list Cumberland Financial in Building 5, Unit 53. The Better Business Bureau opened a file on the company in March 2005.
Unlike a payday lender, Cumberland Financial financed purchases. Its 2022–2024 website listed boats, steel buildings, auto parts, pools, vehicles, motorcycles, furniture, jewelry and flooring, and said its decisions were "not based entirely upon the customer's credit score." Customers could apply online and set up payments through a third-party payment page.
The website stopped working in the fall of 2024. The last archived copy of the company's home page is from September 10, 2024, and by early October 2024 the domain showed a blank hosting page. A customer review posted to the BBB on October 9, 2024 says the company appeared to have closed. We have not found an official notice of closure or of a sale to another lender.

What we kept, and what we didn't
We kept the name because it fits a Kentucky service. We didn't keep anything that belonged to the old company: its phone number, address, staff, license or customer data. The phone number it used now belongs to a different lender. Old links to the company's payment pages now lead to this page. We don't accept payments for any earlier company, and we can't see or change old loan balances.
